Creating different default local items for different issue types (within one project)

You need administrator rights in Jira to perform the tasks on this page.

You can create default local items, which are editable checklist items that will be added to a checklist by default whenever a new issue is created. For more information about default local items and how they’re different from other types of items, see https://okapya.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CHKDOC5/pages/2026831955.

In some cases, you may want to have different default local items for different issue types (such as bugs and tasks). If these issue types are within the same project, you will run into a Jira limitation that, for a given custom field, you cannot have two configuration scheme contexts that apply to the same project (for details, see https://okapya.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CHKDOC5/pages/1966145581).

As a workaround, you will need to create one Checklist custom field for every issue type that you need different default local items for. This will enable you to create a configuration scheme context for each custom field, which can then all be associated with the project in question.

If your issue types are in different projects, see https://okapya.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CHKDOC5/pages/2094465061 instead.

To create different sets of default local items for your different issue types:

  1. Create a Checklist custom field (for details, see ).

  2. Within that custom field, create a configuration scheme context for the project and the first issue type that you want to create default local items for (for details, see ).

  3. Create default local items for the configuration scheme context you just created (for details, see ).

  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the remaining custom field(s) and issue type(s).
